Coldplay and Chris Brown concerts in Dublin

What a time to write a blog about Chris Brown eh??? We were bigging him up and it now looks like he beat up Rihanna. If the stories are true I can only say one thing... what an idiot! The guy was one of the most promising rising stars of his generation and now his career is it tatters. Rather than take the blog down altogether we'll give you an insight as to what the concert was like and what I thought before he became a thug...

Before the news came out:
I was recently at the Coldplay and Chris Brown concerts in Dublin and have to say A+++ for both of them!! I wouldn't really consider myself a big Coldplay fan so my expectations were not extremely high. Chris Martin gets bad press for not wanting people to know about his private life so I wasn't expecting much interaction from with the crowd. Boy did I get it wrong. Chris Martin oozed charisma and was brilliant the whole way through. He got the full crowd singing along with him for the songs and made the remark that we should all go on Pop Idol :-)

In light of the fact that it was not long after Christmas, Fairy Tale of New York got a rattle much to the delight of the Irish crowd and he played jingle bells on the harmonica. U2 also got a mention. The band came up to a small stage in the middle of the crowd for a few singles which prompted masses of pictures from the people amazed that they were so close and the pyrotechnics were great throughout. Viva La Vida and Yellow were definitely highlights and the audience left the concert all singing Wooohhh ooooohhh aaaaoooo ooooohhhh!!!

As for Chris Brown, if he wasn't a singer he could be a comedian. He constantly made jokes on the stage, played to his teenage girl fan base by shaking his hips and taking off his top and his dance moves are brilliant! He had a DJ to warm up the crowd between outfit changes and they worked as a good double act during some of his songs too. It was a nice touch getting some of the crowd on stage to dance with him and singling out a wee 5yr old boy to get up on the top stage to show him some cool moves definitely had the mummies purring! His show was like a full musical rather than just a concert including a part when he played a shy boy not able to talk to a hot girl before making the remark that the local Dublin girls were hotter and then breaking into a dance routine. :-) He seemed to recognise that his catalogue of well known songs in Dublin boils down to about 5 or 6 and kept his top songs such as Forever, No Air and Kiss Kiss to the end to let everyone go home happy.

I would definitely recommend any future concerts from Coldplay and Chris Brown. Two very different styles of music but two Chrises that definitely know how to work a crowd!

Yeap, that was before the news came out about beating up Rihanna. My recommendation now is to forget about Chris Brown and just support Chris Martin. I couldn't believe it when I heard the news and I'm still hoping it is not true. If it is, there is absolutely no justification for it and his career is finished. No record company in the world will want anything to do with him. He has to realise that as a celebrity he is a role model to millions of kids worldwide and this is an awful thing to have to hear about someone you had previously looked up to.

Cant wait to see

Cant wait to see Coldplay.
