Vantage Point

Vantage Point stars Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox, Forest Whitaker, Sigourney Weaver and William Hurt. From the advertising I thought it would be some sort of slow moving thriller film which would take time to unravel. Boy was I wrong!! I would best describe it as a mix between Ground Hog Day and The Bourne films.

Fast moving, non stop explosive action - you don't get time to think! A great way to escape after a long week's work or a great film to wake you up on a Sunday after a heavy Saturday night :-) Vantage Point shows you the 23 minutes lead up to the president  getting shot and a bomb going off at an anti-terrorism summit in Spain. It then shows what happens immediately afterwards from one person's point of view and then loops back to show you what another person saw from 12.00, then back again to another different angle from 12.00 on, and again and again... hence the reason I relate to Ground Hog Day. I think by the 5th time of going back some of the people (including myself) in the cinema were laughing!

It's the fast moving action that reminds me of the Bourne films, they even use the fast unsteady camera action like the directors of the Bourne Supremacy did. Whether or not this is a good idea is another story. Dennis Quaid puts in a great performance as a secret service body guard getting straight back in the middle of the chaos and for Matthew Fox this is a good direction to take after his work on Lost.

Definitely worth a look.
