Betty Suarez (America Ferrera) has always had one goal in life: to make it into the publishing business. Despite being smart and hard-working she hasn't had much luck. She is not exactly the best looking woman in the world and the clothes she wears?!? I don't think they have ever been in fashion in any other place than an old peoples' home!
So who would have guessed she would get her big break in the fashion industry? Betty's good nature and honesty doesn't exactly fit with her shallow colleagues but after the initial struggle with her lady loving boss her intelligence starts to shine through as she tries to help him get on the straight and narrow.
