The stories of Michael Jackson returning with a new album have been doing the rounds for quite some time, in fact they've been doing the rounds since the failure of his last album Invicible!

Reports of his supposed work with Will.I.Am, Akon, Chris Brown and most recently Kanye West along with the basic fact that he hasn't done anything in ages has fuelled these rumours. Wikipedia claim that the album will be released in the 4th quarter of this year, other sites like the Sun Times in Chicago report that it will be announced along with a global tour at the end of 2008 or early 2009. So the question is... is it ever actually going to happen?

Answer is...... nobody really knows but I for one want to see both the album and concert happen. You may have guessed from a previous post that I am a big Michael Jackson fan and I am not scared to admit it. As an artist and performer he has led the way for the people who are now talked about as possible collobarators for his new material. He shouldn't bow out on an album like Invicible which had too many forgettable songs. Thriller is still the best selling album of all time and he needs to set the record straight for today's generation who think he is nothing but a freak.

If Michael had a decent management company he would never have to understand what the word debt meant never mind being knee deep in it!! Alien Ant Farm's version of Smooth Criminal sparked the chance of revival for Michael and I could not count the amount of clubs that started to bring Billy Jean back to their record list. When you have world renowned DJs like Pete Tong remixing Billy Jean while entertaining a crowd at Shine night club in Belfast and Ministry in London it is obvious that the chance is there to build on previous success and appeal to a younger audience. All it would have taken is a re release of some of his old classics and then piggy back on that exposure to release new material and it's sorted. Instead Sony made a mess of his number ones, the Martin Bashir interview landed him in a fresh child sex allegation case and all the money disappears!

If ever a man needed a turnaround in fortunes it is MJ, stuff Britney Spears and idiots like that, this is a man with God given talent and a person who can actually sing without the need for digital enhancements.

The MP3 attachment at the bottom of this blog is a supposed leak on one of his new songs played by Pittsburgh's 96.1 KISS FM. Jackson's publicist denies that it is authentic, but it definitely sounds like him and I'll let you make your own mind up!

9/11/07 - The news that has been circulating over the past couple of weeks is that it will not be a new album but will in fact be re-release of Thriller to include 4 new bonus tracks compiled with the artists I mentioned. Hopefully this is not true as there have been too many remakes and re-releases with History and Number Ones. Hopefully it will be a full new album.
