Blood Diamond stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Djimon Hounsou who was both got Academy Award nominations for their performances. Set in the Sierra Leone Civil War in 1999, Solomon Vandy (Djimon Hounsou) is captured by rebel forces and enslaved to work in the diamond fields. While working in the fields Solomon finds a large pink diamond which he manages to hide before a government attack. When mercenary turned smuggler Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio) gets wind of the story he manages to team up with Solomon and the quest becomes a case of you scratch my back I’ll scratch yours. Archer wants the diamond and Solomon wants his son back.

They manages to get an American journalist involved (Jennifer Connolly) along the way and the journey takes them across the war stricken country. Fair play to Leonardo in Blood Diamond
Fair play to Leonardo, I am not a big fan of his. He has that forever pretty boy look and will never look like a real man but he played this role really well. Done great in getting into character and it was a good film. I was pleasantly surprised.
